Anyone who has experienced abdominal bloating, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, or excessive gas on a regular basis can fully appreciate the GI tract – the good, the bad and the ugly.

These common conditions are due to imbalances in the GI tract itself, and can also be affected by other poorly functioning body systems. For example, the adrenal glands regulate cells in the GI tract. Therefore, low functioning adrenal glands can negatively affect your gut! I help my patients heal their body systems. This helps the GI system and the entire body.

Many other factors can compromise gut health. The GI tract is more important than we ever thought. Did you know that 60-80% of your immune system is in the gut? The good microbes that live in our intestines must be able to communicate with other parts of our immune system, but poor diet, antibiotic overuse, stress, and other issues prevent this from happening. When imbalance occurs, bad microbes can overwhelm the system and lead to weight gain, depression, headaches, cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and a host of other problems.

Parasites, yeast and bacterial pathogens are now a huge issue in the United States. These commonly picked-up bugs can wreak havoc with the GI system, and cause any of the above symptoms. But don’t be fooled if you have no GI symptoms. Other possible signs of a parasitic infection include teeth grinding, sleep issues, skin conditions, joint and muscle aches and pains, and a compromised immune system.

Attaining and maintaining a healthy GI tract is crucial to health and happiness. I strive to uncover the root cause of GI distress, and remedy the problems with natural strategies. Health does begin in the gut!
